Crate to Nest directly addresses why people don't buy crates. Rather than a product tied to one phase of a dog's life, owners invest in a single object that stays relevant for the lifetime of their dog.

For Petmate, it opens a premium market they currently have no presence in.

Circular and pill shaped details soften the form and establish a distinct product identity, vital for entering a new market.

Walnut and maple were chosen for their warmth and how naturally they sit alongside modern home interiors.

Natural materials and exposed hardware reflect how people want the objects in their home to feel, considered rather than disposable.

The spring hinge opens the door automatically on latch pull and cannot be closed without human intervention, keeping the dog safe in both configurations.

Assembled with a single allen key and one screw type throughout, the process draws on familiar furniture schemas. Flat pack reduces shipping height from 23.5 to 10 inches.
